A 48 Port 1GbE Switch, Suited for Enterprise and Data Center Environments

Arctica 4804iq Network Switch

One of the most cost-effective access/data center GbE switching platforms in the market with a choice of software defined networking options. The Penguin Computing® Arctica® 4804iq switch is a 48 port, 1GbE Layer 3 switch in a compact 1U form factor, suited for both enterprise and data center environments. The switch provides 48 10-BaseT/100-BaseTX/1000-BaseT ports and 4 1G/10G SFP+ ports and offers advanced DCB features. The system includes high reliability features, such as redundant and hot-swap power supplies and fans in forward and reverse airflow configurations. Arctica network switches are white box switches, allowing flexibility and customization. The Arctica 4804iq switch implements x86-based control plane for easier integration of automation tools, and an ONIE installer for third party network operating systems and compatibility with software defined networks via OpenFlow 1.3.1. Currently, Cumulus Linux® is supported on the Arctica 4804iq switch and more software options are being planned in the future. Software Options Cumulus Linux (versions 2.5.4 and above) is a network operating system that provides an open platform for customers, system integrators and solutions providers to use as is or build rack management applications on top. This is a true Linux distribution, it can be automated and managed using the same Linux tools employed to automate and manage switches and servers in a software defined data center. This integrates well with IT configuration orchestration and automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet and CFEngine, and is ideally suited for rack management with full-fledged networking capabilities in any DevOps environment.
