Penguin Computing, one of the leading providers of large-scale, Linux based enterprise, cloud computing and HPC solutions, today announced the immediate availability of the brand new Intel Xeon E5-2600v2 processor family on its entire Relion server line.
As the first processor generation based on the 22nm tri-gate processor technology the new Intel Xeon processors code named “Ivy Bridge” offer improved energy efficiency and price/performance. Penguin servers with the new Intel processors feature
- Support for higher clock-frequencies up to 3.5GHz
- Up to twelve cores and 24 threads per processor
- Support for memory speeds up to 1866MHz
- Increased virtualization performance through APIC virtualization
- Increased security through new platform and data protection technologies
As a result the refreshed Penguin servers deliver a performance increase of up to 33% for general purpose computing and an increase in power efficiency of up to 27% as compared to its predecessor.

Penguin Computing’s refreshed product line includes a broad range of systems from the general purpose two-way server Relion 1800 to highly specialized servers such as the high-density GPU system Relion 2808GT that accommodates eight GPUs in a two rack-unit form factor. Effective immediately, all Relion servers are available with Intel’s new Xeon E5-2600v2 processors.
