SUPERCOMPUTING 07, RENO, NEVADA (November 12th, 2007) Penguin Computing, a leading provider of HPC cluster solutions, announced today that its HPC Cluster Management product Scyld ClusterWare has been certified as Intel Cluster Ready. Penguin Computing is the first certified vendor to provide a complete turnkey HPC solution stack, including hardware and the cluster management software Scyld ClusterWare, which is completely developed in-house. Penguin made these announcements today at the Supercomputing 07 conference (SC'07), where they will be exhibiting at booth #3252.
Penguin also announced today the latest release of Scyld ClusterWare, Version 4.2, which introduces new features such as support for native directory services for quick and easy integration of Scyld ClusterWare with existing IT infrastructures, a new scriptable configuration interface for the automation of configuration tasks, and multi-master configurations for running multiple system images in parallel.
Scyld ClusterWare is a unique cluster management system, designed to simplify the use and management of Linux clusters. With Scyld ClusterWare's lightweight provisioning, compute nodes are added to a cluster in seconds. Scyld ClusterWare also guarantees a consistent cluster configuration at all times. These unique features paired with Penguin's robust server offerings and commercial support, have made Penguin one of the leading providers of turnkey clusters.
Intel Cluster Ready certification validates that third-party software and hardware is compatible with Intel-based clusters. The program designed to make it easier for customers to acquire and use clusters built with Intel components and to integrate HPC software applications.
"Offering guaranteed configuration consistency and super fast node provisioning, Penguin takes the complexity out of Linux clustering," says Penguin Computings President of Field Operations Charles Wuischpard. "Our participation in Intel's Cluster Ready program was a natural fit. We are excited about Intel's initiative, geared at simplifying cluster management and application deployment."
"The certification of Scyld ClusterWare against Intel's Cluster Ready test suite assures our joint customers that their key HPC applications will be interoperable with ClusterWare," says Karl Solchenbach, Director of Intel Cluster Software Technologies. More users with less cluster expertise will be able to leverage the superior price/performance ratio of Intel based HPC clusters for their research and simulations."
