InfiniBand
InfiniBand is a high bandwidth, low latency interconnect technology for constructing reliable, scalable, high performance computing systems.
Penguin offers QLogic InfiniBand switches with Mellanox Host Channel Adapters (HCA). Supporting software for InfiniBand includes embedded Subnet Manager in the QLogic switch and host adapters are supported by the OpenFabrics open source stack for Linux.
10-Gigabit Ethernet
Latest version of the universally recognized Ethernet standard operates at 10 Gigabits per second. 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GigE) provides 10x boost in bandwidth compared to mainstream Gigabit Ethernet and inherent interoperability with existing Ethernet networks. Typical usage for 10GigE is elimination of bottlenecks in primarily Gigabit networks. This includes applications such as switch-to-switch links and storage server interconnects.
Penguin Computing resells stackable and modular Force 10 switches which are available with multiple options for optical or copper media. Also HP ProCurve line of edge switches includes GigE switches with 10GigE uplinks. Multiple host adapter options are available, each supporting various forms of TCP offloading and Linux operating system.
